Biography:

Dr. G. P. Talwar is a Bio medical researcher working in the area of vaccines and immune contraception. He is Director Research at the Dr. Talwar foundation, a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) recognized by DSIR, Govt of India.

He was Professor & Head Biochemistry, All India Institute of Medical Sciences New Delhi 1965-83, Jawaharlal Nehru Fellow 1979-81, Scholar-in Residence National Institutes of Health Bethesda 1982-86, and Founder Director, National Institute of Immunology 1983-94 and Professor of Eminence International Centre of Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology 1994-99 .He received BSc (Hons) and MSc (Tech) degrees from the University of Punjab, DSc from Sorbonne working at the Institute Pasteur, Paris and DSc (hc) from Bundhelkhand University . He joined as Associate Professor of Biochemistry in the newly created All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi and also worked there as Professor and Head.He was Head, ICMR-WHO Research and Training Centre in Immunology for India and South East Asia (1972–91).

He was elected as the President of the International Society of Immunology of Reproduction and was the first President of the Federation of Immunological Societies of Asia-Oceana. Prof. Talwar was conferred Padma Bhushan by President of India & Officier de la Legion d’Honneur by President of France.

He has published over 600 publications in reputed Journals. He is editor & author of 10 books & Monographs.
