 Research Study 1 – decreasing rate of HPV in developed countries like US

One interesting research study published in the US Centers for Disease control and prevention morbidity and mortality weekly report, says that the 2015 to 2018 period saw decrease in HPV infections among young women between 20 – 24 years. This was decreased in girls of 14 to 19 age group also. Before the invent of vaccine and more researches in this field, disease prevalence was higher. Interesting point to note is that this decline is found in vaccinated and unvaccinated population of young females.  

Research Study 2 – decreasing awareness about HPV in developing countries 

While some countries are aware of the HPV, there are instances in developing countries where the majority population is yet to know the HPV spread and prevention. 

Recent research studies done in university students in such a country in Asia shows that they have poor knowledge about the health problems associated with HPV. The research also showed that the students are not aware of the transmission of HPV. Researchers used a questionnaire-based survey and asked students to fill the same. You might wonder the answers were varying. About 40.51`% did not know how HPV is transmitted. Among them, 34.10 % stated that HPV spreads through the exchange of bodily fluids. About 5.64 % among them even replied atht HPV spreads through coughing and sneezing among the options given.
